This sleek looking 2-8-2 Mikado was built by Lima in March of 1917. The loco served the Nickel Plate Road well until it was wrecked in a head-on collision at Bellevue, OH on 8/17/1955. It was then scrapped at Berllevue in November of 1955. Specs - serial #5429, H-5a class, 63" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 25x32" cylinders, engine wt of 287,000 lb, and tractive effort of 48,600This is an H. N. Proctor photo. |
